    The Church of Christ splintered off from the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement.

    The Stone-Campbell Movement began on the United States frontier during the Second Great Awakening of the early 19th century.

    The “Campbell” mention refers to Thomas and Alexander Campbell who were the most prominent leaders of the Disciples of Christ (another sect).

    Thomas Campbell had been a Presbyterian (another sect) Minister but his credentials had been suspended after he organised the Christian Association of Washington.(another sect)
