Proverbs 3:27-28
27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to act.
28 Do not say to your neighbor,
“Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you”—
when you already have it with you.

24 One person gives freely, yet gains even more;
another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
25 A generous person will prosper;
whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
26 People curse the one who hoards grain,
but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell.

“Eat and drink,” he says to you,
but his heart is not with you.
You will vomit up the little you have eaten
and will have wasted your compliments.

22 The stingy are eager to get rich
and are unaware that poverty awaits them.

25 The greedy stir up conflict,
but those who trust in the Lord will prosper.

Proverbs 29:4
By justice a king gives a country stability,
but those who are greedy for bribes tear it down.

Proverbs 31:20 [WIFE OF NOBLE CHARACTER]
20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.

    How many times have I had these thoughts in my own heart but to actually read them like this is very powerful. Thank you for taking the time to list them like this and in a translation that I can understand..

    A word of caution. We live in a world where for a growing number, begging is a profession and oftern a very lucrative one at that. Yes, we follow these instructions all our days for those who are genuinely poor but we also need to exercise wisdom if we are to avoid financing social parasites.
