‘Fireproof’ is worth a look

I watched Fireproof with Airiel last night. If you haven’t heard of it yet (I’m sure most of you have), here’s the trailer.

The acting is fairly cheesy in some parts, and the production value is a couple of notches below most hit television shows, but I’m willing to overlook those things: this is actually a good movie.

When I consider the fact that this is the third film that a church – yes, you heard me right – a church in Georgia has produced, this moves into the category of ‘great’ movie for me (here’s a good story on this church from Christianity Today). Great movie, great message.

I won’t ruin it for you by revealing too much of the plot, but it’s basically about a couple who’s struggling in their marriage and the events that lead up to their relationship’s transformation. Many relevant issues are addressed couples are struggling with today: insensitivity, self-centeredness, pornography addiction, infidelity, dishonesty, etc.

I’m not sure if this would be a great flick to share with your non-Christian friends as they may right it off as overly cheesy, but I’ve been wrong before. I do recommend this for any Christian to watch – married or not.

Fireproof gets a thumbs up.
