The Next Chapter

OUR MOVE

A wise man once said, “Change is inevitable … except from a payphone.” There is some truth to that statement as it pertains to life, and a big change is coming for my family soon.

In a couple of months, we will no longer be residents of the west coast.

We announced a few weeks ago to the Lake Merced Church of Christ we would be resigning our positions in June and leaving San Francisco.

The past few years in this city have been a rich learning experience. God blessed us to accomplish many of the goals we set out to accomplish and to touch many lives, but ultimately we do not feel He is leading us to be here long-term.

The ministry we started will be left in capable hands after our departure, and, while leaving is bittersweet, we know it is time to move on.

NEW WORK

In June we plan to move to Wentzville, MO (near St. Louis) to join in the next church-planting effort of The Crossings Church – a wonderful congregation led by good friends.

Those of you who know Airiel and I also know we are passionate about making disciples. We look forward to gathering with like-minded souls to carry out His mission in the midwest.

During our time with The Crossings, a team will be formed to move to a new location to plant a new congregation. It is our intention to serve however we can on that team.

Our status as domestic missionaries will remain as we will be financially supported by a plurality of individuals and congregations, many of whom supported us on the west coast. The Downtown Church of Christ in Searcy, AR, will assume oversight of the new work in June, and will handle all financial contributions made toward it.

NEW BLOG

Regular westcoastwitness.com readers might have noticed this blog has a new name and new look – the URL that will be used from now on is outoftheoverflow.com, a.k.a. The Overflow.

The original blog was created mainly to keep supporters up-to-date with regard to the progress of our work in San Francisco. Over time, as I learned I really enjoy blogging and as traffic continued to increase, it morphed into something more than that. Think of this as the next step in that evolution.

The Overflow will serve as an outlet for thoughts related to my teaching ministry. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, I encourage you to subscribe and update your bookmarks (though the old URL will still get you here).

OUR THANKS

To all of you who have supported, prayed for or otherwise encouraged us in the past, we thank you.

The past few years have born fruit, and we will be leaving San Francisco changed for the better with many stories to tell and lessons to share.

Our God is big, and the future is bright – the best is yet to come!

Blessings,
Wes

    Wes,

Blessings on the move and the new mission. Just as there are people enjoying the blessings of Christ because of your mission in the Bay area of California, there will be people who also come to enjoy those same blessings in Missouri.

    Grace and Peace,

    Rex
