Elisha’s Double Portion & God-Centered Ambition

New sermon up from 2 Kings 2.

We’re in the midst of a transitional period at the Lake Merced Church of Christ, and just happened to be dealing with Elisha in our sermon series this past week.

Last Sunday I preached the story of Elijah’s passing the torch to Elisha, and the relevance this story has in our lives and in the life of the Lake Merced Church today.

REfocus Your Focus: From Moses to the Cross

I had a good time with the Downtown Church of Christ in Searcy yesterday morning.

Have you ever felt as if God has placed a call on your life you simply don’t have the ability to fulfill?

Moses felt that way, but what he learned over time is that fulfilling God’s call on his life wasn’t about his ability – it was about his availability. God is the hero of the Exodus story, and He’s the hero of your story too. Want evidence? Look to the cross.

Don’t ask, “Am I able?” Instead ask, “Am I available?”

You can access this sermon and PowerPoint here:

  • In addition to preaching at Downtown yesterday morning, I also had a great time with the College Avenue Church of Christ in El Dorado, AR, yesterday evening.

It was a whirlwind of a day, but a good one.

Fellowship with other believers who believe in and support our mission in San Francisco is always a wonderful thing. 🙂

Check Out My Latest Article in Youth Worker Journal

Here’s what I believe to be a balanced review of Dan Merchant’s documentary Lord, Save Us From Your Followers (of course, I may be a teensy bit biased): click here to read.

I recommend picking this movie up – it’s worth watching.

The DVD release is set for April 30th.
